  1. I really like how she used a graphite to convey traditional medium for scientific illustrations. I mean in the sense that her drawings are so detailed that they look like many of the old lithographs used for natural documentation.

  2. There is an admirable patience, dedication, and intensity to the way she observes and depicts nature. There is a formal balance in many of her compositions that seems tied to a hope for natural balance or order. Her message in this video seems to be careful silent observation is one of the starting points for understanding the natural world. This is echoed in the Chasing Ghosts video but more from a science research perspective.

  3. WOW these images that Zoe Keller produces are incredible. I love how detail oriented she is with the shading and how she chose to portray the animals structurally in the final drawings, all mangled together. I appreciate how she is location oriented as well, drawing animals found in specific regions. I was born right outside of Zion National Park, so the drawings she did of snakes, song birds, owls etc were so cool to see. These animal drawings must take so long, and the dedication that goes into each drawing (and so many drawings) is incredible. She is definitely an inspiration with her animal portraits....if only I could draw 1/10th as good as her.
