What stands out most to me about Gene Pools work is the scope of his outreach and interaction with the public. With my current idea for project 3 I want outreach to be a focus in terms of how I could circulate the work itself.
ReplyDeleteIn the video from the article, Gene Pool said he wanted to have an art work that was "much more interactive and fun" which I look up to. So often I find myself, and other artists, being serious about serious subjects (which is important because as artists we work to bring awareness towards specific issues) but this stuck out to me in the realm of how to engage viewers. Something as unique as a grass suit that he designed and wore around definitely got looks, attention and the desire to know more. This really embodies the description of project 3, to become a tree of life, and it makes me almost want to rethink or question how I want to display my found ecological objects.
